A bill of materials has its roots in manufacturing. You can look at it as a hierarchical decomposition of a product. I've read this thread and found an example data model for bom:
We're in the stage of modeling our database and one of the requirements is to generate a bom (bill of materials). Choose from a wide range of inventory templates, project management templates, issue tracking templates, and many more for access. There are various standard algorithms for generating a bill of materials, but they involve recursive querying, which access does not support.
What is a bill of materials, or bom? A bill of materials has its roots in manufacturing. I've read this thread and found an example data model for bom:
I'm new to access and i'm developing a database for a small business that includes an inventory table, where all parts are listed. It can be simulated, however and you'll find an example as bom.zip in my public databases folder at: On this page, you can download our most popular microsoft access database templates.
I am hoping to create bills of materials for assembled products (finished goods), which would include some parts from the inventory table (parts included depend on the finished good). You can look at it as a hierarchical decomposition of a product. The zip archive also contains a simpler partstree database which, unlike the bom file will model a bill of materials to a fixed maximum number of levels.
